Supercar Sunday 2/2

The Marque Day for this Sunday was Classic and Tri-5 Chevys. As always, the Chevy owners turned out in force.

It seemed like Bel Air was the word- of-the-day. I parked next to Jack Gies  and his black BJ8 and Kristian Bassilios and his daughter parked their 1967 Morris Traveler on the other side of Jack. The Traveler’s back end was stacked with – Girl Scout cookies! I made sure to get a box of Thin Mints before I left. Fred Cohen arrived a short time later in his Datsun 510. I thought there might be more members today as I passed Greg Aden in his Bugeye headed west on the 101. Turned out he was detouring around the PCH closure on his way to the “Bacon Run” at Trancas Canyon vintage market.

While Kristian and his daughter loaded up a wagon with cookies, I headed for the food truck and breakfast. After coffee and a burrito, I took a walk through the assembled cars checking out the rides. Besides the Tri-5’s, there was a classic Chevy convertible, plus a very nice pickup. I saw a couple of classic Ford’s that I liked and a Studebaker Champion.

As I got ready to leave, I noticed Fred had beaten me out of the lot. Jack was still busy talking to people and Kristian was wandering the rows of cars, wagon in tow as his daughter made a killing selling the Girl Scout cookies.

See you next month, March 2nd, when the marque is Lotus and British.
