Legacy Tustin C&C 10/19

We started our day at 6:30 am picking up my dear friend, my Kenyan brother, Samuel in our Primrose BN4. He was here for a mission and staying in Huntington Beach. A real car guy for sure, with a Citroen and an older Renault he is restoring in Kenya. Alice and George McHarris, in his BJ9, followed me to where Samuel was staying and Samuel got in the navigator’s seat normally occupied by Alice and then down to a left on to PCH into Newport Beach down to the Fun Zone for the traditional breakfast sandwich. We were joined by Dr. Dave Brown and his daughter, Kate, in Kate’s baby blue Bugeye and Jim Bennett in his “still new” Black Tri Carb. As always, the sandwiches were great, but it was time to head to Tustin Legacy.

Leaving the Fun Zone up Old Newport Blvd to the 55Fwy to Dyer Rd to a left onto Flight Way to find a variety of sweet cars leaving as our caravan was coming in. A pretty Healey Blue 3000 passed us leaving with a wave. I think it was Dick Ames.

As we entered the parking area one of the Tustin Team organizers informed us the Tustin Property managers double booked a craft fair in the parking lot with 120 plus exhibitors.

Some of the cars were going to try to find a quick substitute spot so it wouldn’t be a total bust.

Even so, the ride there was great; with great company, the cars leaving provided a parade of some great cars, my Kenyan brother Samuel was thrilled to see some spectacular cars.

As we were leaving ourselves, after making our loop out of the parking lot, here came Tom Spangler’s yellow bugeye with Andy, his grandson driving in.

2 Bugeyes, 3 Big Healeys and a BJ9 with Alice Johnson riding shotgun, and the best part of the day was Samuel had a great time seeing great cars a long way from Home! Not bad for a bust!
