Aside from some heavy traffic, I arrived in Long Beach early so I could have dinner with Dawn Lakowski. It was so great to see her and talk about Chuck. We all miss him so much! After dinner I drove to Belmont Shore to join the other British Cars. As I pulled up to the light about to enter the parking lot, I saw Bob Bolling idling behind me. I didn’t know he was coming so that made me happy. After parking, I see Peter and out of the corner of my eye, I see another surprise... Phil Caliva.
He was not “planning” on attending, and I foolishly thought I could gain 3 points on him and decrease his lead, but no. Luckily, I got a picture of his smug face, knowing he thwarted my plans. Ooh, I could just kick him! I recognized Deke from a prior meeting at Belmont Shores. He has a lovely1966 green BJ8 and he just became a member! And he brought his daughter, Heather, to meet us all, which was so sweet! Next, I see Paul drive in like a “bat out of hell”. I think to myself, I would do the same if I was in my bugeye.
With a big grin on my face, I see the newlyweds, Andy and Samira arrive in their nasty boy. I started jumping up and down because last time we saw Andy and Samira was at last year’s Belmont Shore Car Show, and they were just engaged at the time.
I thought about getting an ice cream from the truck but last time I ordered a kid scoop with chocolate topping it was like $100. Okay, it was closer to $14 but still, it was TINY. They don’t list their prices on the truck; they only have numbers next to the photos, so you never know what you’ll be charged. I decided to pass and go home instead. A wise choice for my wallet and waistline.
