Summer is here - huge surf, June gloom on the wane, and it’s getting pretty warm for the longer drives. we have been able to see a lot of our folks at the various C&C events as well as the Huntington Beach Concours event. It was a great turnout with lots of storytelling and an opportunity to see Phil’s new Jensen Healey.
75th Anniversary International Healey Meet- Well, we continue to make good progress towards our number goal for registrations. As you may know, early registration is closed, but regular registration is open.
It is kind of surprising that the Golden Gate club is far out- pacing our club and the San Diego club is not far behind. I would encourage you to sign up to join in the festivities. It promises to be a great time.
Anna and I had an opportunity to meet Jay Leno on the 23rd of June and invite him to join us. He said he would check if he could but due to his wife’s health issues isn’t making any commitments right now, so stay tuned. When you have a couple of minutes, you should go to healey75.com (or try to access it via our club’s website at www.austin-healey.org) and check it out.
There will be lots of great cars, exhibits, scenic drives, and social events planned to keep everyone busy. In addition, there are pre- and post- events in the planning stages which will expand our Healey seat time and enjoyment with our fellow Healey friends and family. More to come on the pre-and-post events as the information becomes available. Also, you may want to check out the regalia. As always, Steve has pulled together a great set of merchandise for the event.
New Social Media Presence. Please join me in thanking Clay Kaytis for stepping up to be our social media guru. He has already started posting pictures and information from recent events. His depth of knowledge and skills are AMAZING. The links to the various social media sites are in our newsletter, so click on them and check them out. When you see Clay, please thank him. This will take the awareness of the Healey community and how fun you all are to a whole new level.
FIVA award to Jay Leno. As noted above, Anna and I had an opportunity to support the National Healey Club as the Austin Healey representatives to the US contingent of the Federation Internationale des Vehicules Anciens (FIVA) who inducted Jay Leno into their Hall of Fame and presented him with a heritage certificate for his stunning Duesenberg. The goal of FIVA is the protection, preservation and promotion of historic vehicles and related culture. As always, Jay was fun to listen to and a pleasure to be around. He is an amazing ambassador for the historic automotive and motorcycle world.

Don hails from Woodland Hills and has a 68 BJ8 MK3, Scott hails from Costa Mesa and has a 63 BJ7 MK2 as well as a 60 BN7 Mk1,`and Matthew is from Pasadena. Welcome, Don, Scott, and Matthew.
Western Regional Tech Sessions- For those who are not members of the National Club (AHCA), we continue holding monthly Zoom Tech Sessions. They are rich in information where members ask questions and several tech experts discuss technical issues and make recommendations/ present potential solutions. Our tech experts represent well over a hundred years of knowledge and experience. You may want to consider joining the National club and join us for these tech sessions.
