From the President

Steve Kirby | Published on 7/1/2022

Hello all you Healeyphiles, As you may know, this will be my final Letter From The President. I am pleased to announce that Mike Biss will be taking over as President, effective July 1. Mike is a long time Healey fanatic (as well as some other interesting stuff). He owns a beautiful 100 and he and brother Tom are each currently restoring Jensen Healeys.

Mike is one of those guys who is always ready to raise their hands when something needs to be done. He has been instrumental in helping run both the recent California Healey Week and Conclave 2021. Organizations like ours only grow and prosper when there are individuals such as Mike. I am confident that he will be a remarkably effective Leader.

As for me, it has been my honor to serve as your President for the last five years. Having previously served as President for another (not to be named) car club, I can tell you my experience with the Healey Club was night and day. We are blessed with dedicated and long serving Directors and Officers including Mike Scroggie (Membership), Anna Johansson (Treasurer), Greg  Aden (Activities), Alice Johnson (Secretary), Tim McNiff (Newsletter Editor), Kathy Scroggie (Regalia) and Bill Wilkman (Historian). All of whom are continuing and who make the President’s job the easiest one in the Club! I would also like to give a shout out to Janet Sowell, our Webmaster and IT Guru who helps all the leadership effectively manage the website and club functions. And Jay Miller who handled the Treasury for several years. Finally thank you to all of you volunteers, too numerous to mention, who have always answered the call! In case you think I am riding off into the sunset, not so. In fact, quite the opposite. I plan to use the extra time to indulge my real Healey passion, Overseas Healey Touring. This Fall I am leading a group of 12 Healeys on a month-long tour of England, France and Italy. Watch for details in November and December Newsletter. And next June I have a group of 40 Healeys embarking on a trip to Scandinavia on a three-week tour which will include the 6th European Healey Meet in Norway. So, I will be busy to say the least.

In between, I will see you at as many Healey events as I can make. Thanks again for all your support.
