I hope this Hinds you well and dry. WOW, a lot of rain but beautiful weather between the storms, so we’re able to get our cars out for drives and visit our friends at the various drives and meets. Hope you have been able to get those planned updates done with the Festival of Whales on 3/3, and the Seal Beach car show 4/27 coming up. I hope you have been able to take advantage of our advertisers and CHW 2024 sponsors as you are doing your updates & repairs. I certainly have.
CHW 2024- It’s almost upon us with only 2 1⁄2 months to go. We are now at about 85% of our goal of 70 cars/ 120 attendees. As you know, CHW 2024 promises to be a fantastic get- together with great drives along some of the most beautiful coastline in the world, wine tasting opportunities at several award-winning wineries, tour of the Hearst Castle and others as well as our great car show. So, if you haven’t signed up yet, please do so. A reminder: The registration fee increases by $40/ couple and $20/ single and extra guest AFTER APRIL 13. Go to “Events” and May 13-17, 2024, in the club calendar. We are still taking recommendations for your favorite tunes from 1974 as well.... And a shout out to Larry Capalbo who was the winning bidder for CHW 2024 #1 registration. Please join me in congratulating Larry! Rendezvous 2024- As mentioned in prior newsletters, as CHW 2024 wraps up, Steve Kirby has coordinated a continuation trip to join the Austin Healey Owners Association of British Columbia for Rendezvous 2024. As part of that trip, we will spend a couple of weeks touring through British Columbia, including Victoria and Whistler. As always with Steve’s tours, it promises to be a great trip.
75th Anniversary of Austin Healey meet- Our Club, along with the Golden Gate Austin Healey Club (GGAHC) and the Austin Healey Club of America (AHCA) are working together to plan an International Meet in Lake Tahoe mid-2027.
We are in early discussions with a potential venue on options and pricing as well as setting up the web-site and coming up with the logo (see note from Steve Kirby on 2/19). Please put your creative hats on to come up with a great design. If your design is selected, you will win a FREE Registration to the Event, plus special recognition for your contribution. Good luck and get to work on those ideas! New members- Please join me in welcoming two new members to our club: David Karaffa from Santa Ana and Jack Hosier from Long Beach. David has a 1974 Jensen Healey. Please join me in welcoming our new members.
Membership Renewals- As you may know, the renewal process for 2024 has closed. We are down quite a few local-only as well as joint AHCA/ AHASC members. On the upside, we have had 4 new members join. If you have not yet renewed, please contact Mike as quickly as possible.
As always, I hope to see you at the Cars & Coffee get-togethers and other gatherings/ drives between the rainstorms. Stay well and try to stay dry as we wrap up our California winter.
Mike
