Happy New Year! I hope you are able to get out and enjoy your cars between the storms. Lots of great adventures coming up, you should try to find a way to enjoy one or several.
Upcoming key events- Beside the weekly C&C and get togethers, the first big event is the Classic Car Show in San Juan Capistrano on the 11th. Then there is the Pinal NASCAR race at the Auto club speedway on Sunday Feb 26th. They have a British car corral at the event for our members. You need to sign up for the event by 1/31. Then the Festival of Whales in Dana Point planned for Sunday March 5th. The event is once again being coordinated by Mike Scroggie. There are limited spaces, so if interested, please sign up on our website soon.
Also, as in the past we will be getting together for dinner at the Dana West Yacht Club Saturday evening to catch up and share stories. The next big near-term event is the Nethercutt Museum Visit planned for Saturday April 15th. The Nethercutt Museum is in Sylmar and boasts over 250 prestigious, antique, and exotic automobiles and a steam locomotive. Peter Roses has coordinated our tour and it promises to be a memorable event.
New Members- Please join me in welcoming our newest member Thomas Hume who hails from Coto de Caza. Welcome to our Healey family! Our support- As a club, we did well enough last year to be able to support two worthy causes this year. First, we have donated funds to a technical institute- TechForce Foundation in Phoenix for a student’s scholarship focused on automotive restoration. TechForce will let us know how the student is doing. Secondly, we are donating funds to the Healey Museum in the Netherlands to help them maintain the museum and the legacy of Donald Healey.
Future events/ get-togethers- Steve Kirby continues the coordination of the European Healey Meet tour. There are still some spaces available. As mentioned, Steve puts together amazing tours that are an adventure of a lifetime. You may want to seriously consider joining our tour. The GGAHC has firmed up California Healey Week (CHW) planned for September. CHW is planned for Sept 18th through Sept 22nd.
The event is planned for South Lake Tahoe. The registration is now open on the GGAHC website and Mike Scroggie will be sending out information as well. Will keep you posted as more information becomes available.
Potential drive- Wondering if there is interest in a drive through the So Cal hills checking out the wildflowers? With the recent rains, it promises to be a spectacular drive. If interested, please let me know your thoughts.
Dues renewal- We continue to make good progress on the club renewals both local and as part of the national club. If you have not renewed, please do. They have made it pretty easy through our Club Express websites.
Happing motoring...
