The Scottish Festival, held at the Orange County Fairgrounds, returned on the weekend of 28/29 May. As in past years, the organizers have a display of classic British Cars on hand during the festivities. This year the cars were parked adjacent to the pedestrian entrance which gave the visitors ample opportunity to admire our British “iron”.
On display were Mini’s, Triumphs, Morris Minors, MG’s, an Aston Martin, a Jaguar in addition to the Healey’s driven by club members: Greg Aden, Phil Caliva, Flavio Montoro, Chuck Lakowski, John Hummer and Alice Johnson, and Tim McNiff.
Past Club President Chic Linde drove a Mini. Phil didn’t stay long – he had to go and rescue his buddy Sandy Bettleman, whose 1952 Alvis threw the fan off the shaft and destroyed the radiator and water pump.
For the rest of us; when we weren’t answering questions about our cars, we were watching the Highland Games, the herding dogs, listening to the Pipe bands, and checking out the merchandise in the marketplace. We also got to sample Haggis, Scottish meat pies, and Fish and Chips.
The weather was overcast and sometimes chilly for us during the day, but the cars loved it. Chuck, John and Alice loved it so much that they returned on Sunday to display their cars.
