Hello all you Healeyphiles, Plans for California Healey Week are coming together nicely. We already have 65 cars and 115 people registered, exceeding our goals of 50/100 and we still have almost three months to go! If you are thinking of attending and have not yet signed up, I suggest you do so now. We are running short of rooms in our discounted block ($139/$159 per night) and I wouldn’t want you to have to pay full price (over $200). You can register at www.austin- healey.org, our website. You can sign up online or print a registration form and mail a check.
We are very pleased to have guests coming from Northern California, San Diego, Las Vegas, and Reno.
In fact, the Golden Gate Club is hosting the Funkhana in a similar format to what they did at Conclave, complete with three wheeled race cars, a shooting gallery, ring toss and other challenges.
Our Poker Run will take us to Idyllwild along the Palms to Pines Highway and the Scenic Drive will traverse Joshua Tree National Park. The drive will end at a real date farm with complimentary date shakes, English tea and farm tours compliments of Ron and Sharon Burton (it’s their farm).
The Silent Auction is shaping up to be a great one and for the Pirst time we will have a live auction for some very special items. More details on that later.
Throughout the event we will be featuring the Jensen Healey (and likely will have the largest number of these on display ever), as well as the music of the Rolling Stones on their 60th Anniversary! Thursday night’s Banquet will be an English Dress Up Party, so start thinking about your outPit. Surely there will be prizes for the Best Dressed.
Once again Lisa Mandell is hosting the Ladies Event over wine and cheese. I understand that there will be a Jewelry Show as well as a reprise of the “Living with a Healey Man” story session that was so popular at Conclave. A Tech Session for the guys is also planned.
Our Car Show will be right on the property around the Lake. Should be a beautiful and convenient setting. The Show will be followed by a Mexican Buffet Lunch which is included in your registration fee.
