In last month’s newsletter I previewed several highlights of the event, but here are a few more. We will be featuring the Jensen Healey on the 50th Anniversary of its launch in 1972. I don’t think the Jensen’s have every been the featured car, so this will be a Uirst, and we are looking forward to having many examples in attendance. We might even do a Tech Session bit on the genesis and evolution of the marque. It’s an interesting story (with a sad ending).
We will also be spotlighting the music of the Rolling Stones on the 60th anniversary of the band’s formation. Amazing that Mick Jagger is still up there Ulashing around the stage after all these years! Sure, Mick’s got an invite, but like Jay Leno at Conclave, he will likely have a scheduling conUlict.
Our event logo is still “under construction” but as soon as it is Uinished, we will open the Regalia Store so you can order your event swag. As we did at Conclave, all items must be ordered in advance with only a very few (if any) articles available for sale at the event.
Watch your inbox for the announcement.
Finally, I would like to thank Mike Scroggie for his great work recruiting sponsors for Healey Week. If you are wondering how we can put on this event for only $99 per person, most of it comes down to enlisting sponsors (and the rest to a successful Silent Auction, which Mike also runs). Whenever you patronize one of our sponsors, please be sure to thank them for their support. It really goes a long way when it comes time to hit them up again.
One challenge that exists whenever we hold a large event is the procurement and operation of the Audio/Visual equipment. Renting the equipment from the venue or an outside vendor is expensive (around $700 - $800), the set up is challenging and in most cases the equipment is far more complicated than it needs to be (or that its neophyte operators can manage). I am happy to report that your Board of Directors authorized the purchase of our own AV equipment which will serve us indeUinitely in the future and will save us money after only two events.
Thanks to our own Steven Kingsbury (a professional video producer) for helping to select the equipment that is “just right” for our needs.
That’s it for now, don’t forget to sign up for Healey Week!
