Hello all you Healeyphiles,
Another month! If I was a betting man, I would have placed my money on this thing being pretty much behind us by now. Sort of like the typical flu and cold season. But the numbers are staying relatively high. Who knows when things will get back to normal…. the new normal anyway.
The Club is “doing it’s part” by resuming participation in regular and Club activities. Spirit Points accumulation will resume July 1. Please understand that we are not advocating risky behavior. All conventional safeguards must be observed at Club functions and members are urged to do the same at non-club recurring events. Of course, you always have the option to stay home if you don’t feel comfortable. Check out the calendar and decide for yourself.
I am sorry to have to report that the large group of Club members who were planning a trip to Europe this Fall will have to wait until 2021. Last week the Goodwood Revival made it official and decided to cancel this year’s event. This will have a devastating impact on the local economy of the region, much like the cancellation of Monterey Car Week will have on that area. Our group alone had 64 room nights booked at our hotel for Goodwood.
So far, all the hotels and attractions we had booked and paid deposits on have agreed to roll over our reservations to 2021 at current rates, no penalties, etc. And we still have fourteen couples onboard for next year, with twelve Healeys. Fingers crossed.
If you would like a little diversion, I have posted the Tour Guide for this European Tour (England, France, the Pyrenees, Italy) in the documents section on the Club website. The book is a comprehensive look at what will go on next year on a day by day basis. To access the .pdf file, log on the club website, scroll down to the News and Events section, and click on the European Tour 2021 listing. While you are there, check out the Conclave 2021 web page as well.
