Thankfully, February 1st was a beautiful, warm day for the annual San Juan Capistrano car show run by the local Rotary Club and CARE. Unlike last year when the show was rained out on two consecutive weekends. There was an impressive record turnout of 500+ cars of all types, including exotics, classics, Hot Rods, Rat Rods, European sports cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc. The show included the regular food vendors, band and Frisbee dog entertainment.
Our club had an impressive turnout, and we met up at 6:45am at Starbucks in Capistrano and caravanned as a group over to the show area at 7am; to the grassy fields where the show is held between several schools. The lineup of cars stretched almost a mile on local streets to get in and it took almost an hour to get parked.
We had a very successful show and recruited several potential new members. I was also able to recruit several other British Car owners to attend the British Invasion car show next month in Dana Point. Bruce Steele won the trophy for “Best Healey” and Larry Netherton won “Best of Show”.
All in all, it was a great day.
