2019 Temecula Healey Week Overview

Published on 6/1/2019

California Healey Week 2019 was the 45th Annual Gathering of the AHASC. Not all of these have been Healey Weeks run by our Club, but it’s an amazing string of good-time get togethers which I am sure will continue long into the future.

This year’s event was due to rotate to the “desert” (alternating with the “mountains” and “coast”).

Temecula proved to be a perfect venue with a great hotel, good driving roads, an interesting car show location in Old Town and even the opportunity to run a Gymkhana. On the downside, being so far South, we knew it would be a challenge to get our usual compliment of guests from Northern California.

In the end, we had right at 100 attendees, most of whom booked all four nights (higher than normal), which I attribute to the good hotel rate. About 40 cars participated in the two drives and over 50 people opted in for the Winery Tour. The Cowboy BBQ at the Stone House was a smash hit with virtually everyone opting in. You’ll read more about these events in this edition.

The Golden Gate Club did field a respectable four entries, while the San Diego Club contributed seven. We had two from the British Car Club of Las Vegas, and one guest all the way from Victoria, Australia! The Silent Auction exceeded our financial goal, thanks in large part to the donations of auction items by LaRea Phillips Nielle. The bidding on many items was as spirited as I have ever seen it.

Finally, I would be remiss if I didn’t thank our sponsors who help make this event financially viable.

In particular, American Collector’s insurance, a first-time supporter, who picked up the tab for the car show and was on hand throughout the event and Moss Motors, who is there for us every year.

They sponsored the welcome gifts and contributed $500 in Gift Certificates for the auction. Thank you and all the other sponsors as well.

Just FYI, there will not be a Healey Week in 2020 because the Golden Gate Club is hosting Rendezvous in Lake Tahoe in May. Mark your calendars for May 17-21. More info at www.GoldenGateHealeys.com/Rendezvous-2020
