Inland Empire - Farmer Boys- 2/2

Greetings Group, On a gloomy and rainy Saturday morning a few of the intrepid members of our breakfast group met for conversation at Farmer Boys in Riverside. Leaving the Healeys in the garage, Sandy and I set out from Redlands in our 2013 Miata on our normal route through San Timoteo Canyon towards Riverside. About 1/2 way through the canyon we found the road closed due to rain. So, we turned around and had to take the freeway the long way around through Riverside. Jimmie Davis was already there in his Mercury sedan.

Bill Wilkman arrived in his 1989 Miata and then Tom Spangler in his GMC pickup. Jim Cregg was next in his Subaru WRX STI. Last to arrive was Brad Benson in his wife's Subaru Forester. It was a great day for "future" classics.

The only one to bring a true, already classic, was Bill Wilkman in his 1989 Mazda Miata. This was the first year of the Miata. This original model is known now as an NA. My 2013 is a later model known as an NC.

The current model is an ND. The NA's are considered to be the purest and most collectible. Bill bought his Miata brand new but allowed his brother to own it for about 5 years. He bought it back when his brother's wife wanted a larger car. It has always been in his family. With less than 100K gentle (yeah right! ) miles on the odometer it is a forever car for Bill.

As expected we enjoyed good car chat and a good breakfast. One popular topic was electric cars and whether or not that was the future of our beloved Classics.

We will meet again next month on Saturday the 2nd of March at Farmer Boys on Alessandro Blvd in Riverside at 8:00am. Join us if you can.

Obviously, a classic is not required but, if the weather permits, there will be some.

Cheers
