Woke to a chilly and partially overcast morning. I bundled up and headed for Pierce College in Woodland Hills where one the biggest holiday toy collection events in southern California was taking place. I hoped to get to the site early enough to find a parking spot near Phil, Dex and Greg and their South Bay buddies. Luckily there was an open spot by them when I arrived. Of course, they weren’t there; they had headed over to the food trucks to get some coffee and breakfast burritos.
I headed that way myself and dropped off my gift at the collection tables before grabbing some coffee and food. I ran into Phil and Dex as they were heading back to their cars. They were planning on checking out the cars and vendor booths along the way. After I ate, I strolled through the show admiring the various cars and vendors that had shown up. There were some special edition cars on display that were drawing a lot of interest: the TV Batmobile by Barris and the Warner Bros Batmobile and a pink Barbie inspired convertible Corvette.
Back where everyone was parked, we were joined by David and Lisa Thorne.
They had been forced to park in the hinterlands with a group of Porsches; I don’t know who was more upset! They proceeded to tell us of their close call during the Woolsey Fire when the flames were licking the fence at the back of their yard.
As the cloud cover burned off and the sun started to warm things up I decided to call it a morning and head home.
Phil, Dex and Greg planned to stick around a while longer, so I said Adios and Ciao and left.
