After a great morning at the San Clemente Outlet Shops Cars and Coffee several members: Greg Aden, Phil Caliva, John Hummer, Dex Kaytis, Chuck Lakowski, and Tom Spangler took a leisurely drive up PCH to Jim Liberty’s shop in Costa Mesa for lunch, a tour of his shop and cars and a quick tech session. Joining us at the shop were Gary Barmore, Chick Linde, Tim McNiff, and Bill Wilkman.
After viewing Jim’s beautifully restored cars and eating some great sandwich’s Greg Aden demonstrated the GPS speedometer system that utilizes the cars original speedometer that he installed in his newest Bugeye. Then the group reviewed a handout on the “Differences in British and American Fuses” and a chart that compares the heat ranges of various manufacturers spark plugs.
Jim Liberty then detailed his preparation for and experience during in the 2018 California Mille Miglia in his beautiful 1953 Morgan plus4, as well as his business in restoring Porsche 356’s.
As the group broke up Phil, Dex, Chuck, Tim and I decided to drive home via the Coast Highway. When the group reached the Circle in Long Beach Tim broke off and headed up to the 405 Fwy for his return trip to Glendale. The rest of us continued on Highway 1 to the South Bay.
