Eleven club members attended the show this year with 7 Big Healey’s, 2 Bugeye’s, 2 Jensen Healey’s, and a 1953 Rolls Royce Silver Wraith convertible. It was great to see George McHarris back in Southern California (guess you can only take the Vegas heat for so long!). His son, Steve, found him a great Jensen Healey in San Jose that he can drive while his 100-4 is in Terry Cowan’s shop in San Diego for reconstruction after his accident. He and Marty Hovivian drove up from Orange County. It was also great to see Marty, recovering from his back surgery, driving the Healey again. He said he still can’t get into his Jaguar yet. Tom Spangler also showed up with his Bugeye. He just picked it up after 9 months in the body shop. It was great to see him with his car again. Other attendees were Dex Kaytis, Phil Caliva, George Merino, Tim McNiff, Chuck Lakowski, Mark Fawcett, and Dave Beugen.
It was an unusually warm day but we had a nice breeze to keep us cool. Unfortunately, none of our Healey’s won any awards. Club member Dave Beugen did win People’s Choice with his 1953 Rolls. But it was a great show, even though the food trucks never arrived. We walked two blocks up to the intersection at PCH and either got sandwiches or El Pollo Loco for lunch.
Hopefully it will be better organized next year.
