The Scottish Games - 5/26 & 27

We started arriving about 8 am on the 26th, Chuck Lakowski was the first to arrive, he and I waited about fifteen minutes, then decided to get a parking spot.  We got the last parking spot in the shade.  About twenty minutes later other Healeys started arriving, but had to park on the unshaded access road.  Phil Caliva and Dexter Kaytis had stopped at Donut Derelicts in Huntington Beach on the way to this event.

A total of 25 Classic British cars showed up, I should say 23 classics as two were modern Minis.  The British car industry was well represented by MGs, three Austin Healey’s, Rolls Royce, Land Rover, two Jensen Healeys, Minis (real ones ), etc.  We had people coming by looking and asking questions about the cars all day.

We observed the Opening Ceremony and the Parade of Clans (over 70 ) and as the day went on we watched the various Highlands athletic events, the pipe and drum bands, including the massed bands which was impressive, and sampled the Scottish fare.

Your intrepid reporter tried the Haggis wet; Scotch Whiskey is poured over it, tastes similar to Hash.  Phil tried the bangers and said they were yummy! At 3:30 in the afternoon, we drove to the dirt race track for the parade lap and introduction of cars and drivers.  Attending the event with Healeys were Greg Aden, Phil Caliva, and Dexter Kaytis.  Representing Jensen Healeys was Chuck Lakowski and Col.  Terry Morgan and his wife Linda.  Tom Spangler had his BJ9.

On the 27th our Healey’s arrived a little earlier, and we were all able to park in the shade.  We did some last minute cleaning and got ready show our cars.  We didn't have as many British Cars as we did the day before, but had a different variety, three Austin Healey’s, a Morgan, a Jensen Healey, an Aston Martin, Minis, a Morris Countryman.

14 total classics and one modern Mini.

Once again we showed off our cars, watched the bands, checked out the events and had the featured foods.  Today your reporter had the Lamb and Curry pie, this was very tasty.  We also did some shopping at various booths featuring your required Scottish accessories.

In the late afternoon we once again had the parade lap and introductions.

Attending the event Sunday were Tim McNiff, Dave Deamer and wife, John Hummer and Alice Johnson with Healey’s.
