From the Vice President

Published on 3/1/2018

Well, February is behind us and now on to a new month of Healey activities.  To everyone who missed Steve’s Surf to Turf Rally his past weekend you missed a fantastic event with great weather for the drive.  The event raised over $4,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  The month did not start out so well for me, someone decided that they wanted my enclosed trailer more than I did and stole it from the rear of my shop on February 4th; luckily it was empty at the time.  I was getting ready to load one of my Bugeye’s in it to take to Tom Colby for some motor work.  One of my neighbor’s shop got it on his camera but it was at night and unfortunately the police could not make out the license number of the vehicle.  But all was not lost as I was able to pick up Dennis Williams’ new Futura aluminum trailer as he no longer had a need for it.

The Club will be having a booth again this year at the Los Angeles Classic Car Show at the LA Convention Center on March 2-4th with Saturday designated a Club day and lunch at a nearby restaurant.  If you are planning on attending, we have a club discount on tickers so take advantage of it.  We will have a Hospitality area at our booth and we have five great cars set to display.  We are still looking for some volunteers, in addition to the car owners, to help us  man the booth from time to time.  If you are interested contact me and in exchange for you spending your day with us you get free entry for the day, but you need to sign up with me ahead of time.

From all indications this year’s show will be much larger covering two levels of the Center and with more vendors than last year’s inaugural event.

The “Festival of Whales” British Invasion in Dana Point is the following weekend on March 10th and 11th.

You can attend either one of the days or both and It is a great venue with Dinner the evening of the 10th at the Dana West Yacht Club.  Mike has again set up a special rate for rooms at the Dana Point Marina Inn so it appears that it will be a busy first couple of weeks in March.

Also, the Queens English show is coming up in April so get your registration in before hand to get the reduced pricing.

Again, if you have ideas for a new Club event, please drop me a note at the email address listed.  I do appreciate having a folder full of good future events for us to enjoy.
