It’s Super Bowl Sunday and I am driving out to Woodland Hills for Super Car Sunday! As I motor along I recall Super Bowl I, which was held 49 years ago. The memory is vivid as I’m sitting in an Air Force barracks dayroom at Amarillo AFB, TX with about 80 other trainees Super bowl participants. Every week this get together will bring out everything from a Horseless Carriage to a stealth-designed Polaris Slingshot three-wheeler; from a lineup of Lotuses to Mustang City; and everything in between: hot rods, Mack trucks, Japanese microcars, and a 1933 Pontiac 8 four-door sedan. There was even another Healey making an appearance, though I didn’t recognize the car or its driver.
So mark your calendars for the first Sunday of each month and check out the wide variety of cars and car lovers at Super Car Sunday.
