This year’s Tech Session was something a little different. Rather than a panel of experts, Steve Kirby gave a session on lighting, based on products sold by our (former) advertiser, Better Car Lighting of the UK.
This vendor has specialized in lighting upgrades for Classic Cars for more than 20 years. While the products are expensive (particularly with the weak dollar and tariff), they are of the highest quality, come with all the installation parts needed, complete instructions and access to online technical help. All products are LED based.
The presentation covered the basic LED lighting characteristics, including more light, less power consumption, lower heat, and longer life. The large group attending then saw actual products including headlights (with AH logo), headlight upgrades, interior lights, exterior lights (including a kit to make early car’s rear lamps flash amber for turning) and a new 3rd stop/3rd brake/number plate/backup lamp assembly suitable for Phase II BJ8s and Sprites.
Finally, we wrapped up by going outside and seeing many of these products in action on Steve’s car.
