From the President

The holidays are behind us... I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, and/or Hanukkah and a great New Years celebration surrounded by family, love, and making more life-long memories.

We’re in for a couple of months of cold, short and dark days and maybe even some weather, but.... We are in So Cal, so mostly lots of warm sunny days where we don’t have to put our cars up for the long, dark, and cold winter. I hope you were able to get your cars out with that special loved one or kids and grandkids to see the holiday lights and visit friends, maybe with some hot chocolate and a warm blanket- make an adventure out of it. I am sure you will be quite a sight driving around in your iconic cars while enjoying each other’s company.

New Years drive- I hope you were able to join in on the New Years Pre-Rose Parade drive. Always lots of great cars, and the beauty and exhaust notes of the Healey are hard to top.

Holiday Party- The Holiday party was another great success with 65 members and family able to attend.

We had a chance to have each member introduce themselves and talk about their Healey experience and some even remembered to introduce their spouse (a source of some merriment). I am sure it doesn’t come as a big surprise to anyone that this year’s Spirit award winner was Phil Caliva with 209 points followed by Bob Bolling with 143 and John and Alice Hummer with 120 points.

Toys-For-Tots- The Toys-for-Tots donations were another GREAT Success. We were able to completely fill the SUV with toys and collected $340 for batteries.

This year, as part of the Santa and Mrs. Clause that Anna and I do for the Marines down in Camp Pendelton, we shared the gifts and batteries with three different battalions of Marines and their kids.

One group had almost no toys until we provided the club’s toys. The joy on the kids’ faces and thankfulness expressed by the Marines and their families is hard to comprehend. We want to thank all that were able to contribute- You made a meaningful difference. Thank You!! CHW 2026- Detailed planning for CHW 2026 continues. We are only a little more than four months away with the festivities planned for May 5th- 9th As a reminder: CHW 2026 will be held in San Diego at the Island Palms Resort and Marina on Shelter Island, so check your calendars and go ahead and sign up. We have 40 attendees signed up so far including folks from the GGAHC and San Diego clubs as well. After the holidays are over, please take the time to check out the event information on our club website and sign up. As with all of Steve’s planned activities, it will be a lot of fun, so I hope you can join us Person of Interest- As mentioned last month, we have included our person of interest write-up for Phil Caliva – A long time Healey family member and truly amazing soul. Next month our person of interest will be Alice Johnson.

Just knowing Alice brings a big ole smile. So, if you have any fun Alice and John stories, please let me know.

New Members- Please join me in welcoming three new members- Bruce Boese, David Feingold, and Maidy Morhous. Bruce is from Modesto, David is from Bell Canyon and has a 54 BN-1 and Maidy is Nancy Wolf’s sister and Phil Caliva’s sister-in-Law and is from Del Mar. Welcome.

Annual membership renewals- Our annual membership renewal continues. We currently have 92 members that have renewed their membership. If you have not joined the national club, please consider joining. They work very hard to plan and coordinate some great Healey events, publish a world class magazine and are starting Zoom based tech sessions lead by some very knowledgeable and experienced Healey folks As always, when considering having work done on your cars, please consider our sponsors. They help our club and provide rare (albeit vanishing) and needed services and products.

As always, safe motoring, stay well and you may want to start getting those beauties ready for spring. It’s less than 3 months til the Festival of Whales in Dana Point in early March.
