Montrose Classic Car Show 7/06

I have owned a British classic sports car since 2006 and have lived in the Glendale area longer than that, but I hadn’t participated in the Montrose show until now. With the show on the Club calendar, I polled the membership for entrants and got a positive response from Clark Lewis. Phil Caliva and Chuck Lakowski were also definite, they sign up for everything.

So, the three of us, plus my son, decided to meet at the Starbucks by the United Artists Theater and then head over to the show entry point.

Following the directions given by the showrunners we pulled up to the entry point, an easy right turn into the venue. Wrong. We were told to make a left and go to the end of the line .

. . which stretched four blocks to the west.

Once into the show we were directed to park in a lot on the south side of Honolulu Ave. After getting situated, the four of us headed to the Black Cow Cafe for breakfast. As we walked along, we found a bunch of British cars including club member Clark Lewis and his MGB, his Bugeye still on jacks and the front suspension rebuild on hold. After eating we walked back to our cars noticing a forest green BJ8 parked on Honolulu Ave. A mystery to be solved later.

Back at the cars, we were getting our chairs into the shade provided by a building overhang when members Chris and Jerry Lockwood surprised us. They were parked two cars over from our three, in their tricked-out Ford pickup, the Whiskey Hauler. Later in the day I returned to the unknown BJ8 and found the owner, Mike Clark, who happens to be a club member. All-in-all, a nice turnout with seven members and four Healeys at the show.
