Peninsula/Silver Spur 5/3

At 0625 I looked outside the house in Hermosa Beach, the weather looked a bit cloudy but not enough to deter me from doing a two-a-day car show.

I headed up to the Silver Spur and Hawthorne Blvd shopping center to our recurring-monthly Healey gathering which also draws many other foreign and domestic Hot Rods and Classics.

All was well through Redondo Beach/The Esplanade area and as soon as I neared the PV peninsula, yes you guessed it!! There was nothing but serious fog and heavy drizzle. At this point I was committed, and I drove to our show area only to Hind that the area was cordoned off for some construction and remodeling of a couple of buildings. That caused me to stop at the nearby Starbucks and get my usual vittles and a nice large hot Mocha. I knew that the parking structure at the Promenade a block away also has a bigger gathering of cars on the same morning, so I headed to the Promenade with my just finished green BJ8; doing tons of welding and replacing a lot of the main parts, a whole new set of complete upholstery performed by Greg Aden's guy, a Vietnamese guru upholsterer in Torrance CA. Russ Thompsons did the Hinal touches to make sure it ran well.

So now I have this 1966 BJ8, patinaed British Racing Green beauty that I rescued in February 2024 after it had sat on jack-stands for over 30 years in Maryland. I bought it on BAT from a former Air Force Pilot who had bought the car In England and shipped it back to the USA when he returned to duty in the States. This Healey was driven all over the United States while the owner was on active duty in the Air Force.

After getting WET, I left PV because I had committed to one of my favorite annual Hermosa Beach Cars in The Plaza show (Endless Summer Theme) and drove to my shop in Torrance to pick up Nancy's 1934 Plymouth that I built for her 30 years ago when I was young and full of piss and vinegar!! Now for my twofer.
