From the President

Happy Valentines Day! Although the days are still short and the nights are long, dark and cold, rest assured, the days are getting longer. Also, it’s looking like the winter that wasn’t. Unfortunately, 2025 is starting out pretty tough with the Santa Ana winds appearing in the winter instead of the typical fall occurrence. This has brought devastating Hires to Southern California and our Healey family.

Steve Gerow and Nancy lost their home and Louis and Bonnie Fisher lost their garage with irreplaceable antique motorcycles and parts. A few other members have had to evacuate with just a minimal amount of their possessions.

Fortunately, they were able to return home without damage.

Unfortunately, we are not out of harm’s way. The Santa Ana’s are not over with, so please keep So Cal and our Healey family in your thoughts and prayers.

On a positive note, both Steve and Nancy and Bonnie and Louis were able to save their Healey’s, so a silver lining on a very dark cloud. If you have not heard, we have set up a donation site on our Club Express web page to help our Healey folks with a donation to help them through the near term. Over 16 folks have donated so far. Please consider donating if you can, as every little bit helps.

CHW 2025- As you should have seen, registration for CHW 2025 is now open. CHW 2025 will be held in Yosemite National Park in October during what should be peak fall colors in the Sierras. To date, we have over 20 cabins rented and over 50 folks planning to attend. We will have to cap the number of registrants due to venue size limitations, so you may want to sign up ASAP. As mentioned, this will be a CHW “Lite”, so more socializing, a couple of drives and time to enjoy the local beauty with old and new friends.

Also, as a reminder for those interested, David Nock from the GGAHC is setting up a fall colors tour just before CHW2025. David’s tour will pass through some of the gold rush back roads and Sierra Passes looking for the perfect fall scenery. The plan is for CHW 2025 to be the second week of October 2025. You will want to reserve your cabin as quickly as you can. You may also want to buddy-up with your friends to help reduce the lodging costs. The registration webpage includes a link to cabin bookings to date with a list of registrants potentially offering up bedrooms for rent in their cabins. It promises to be an amazing and beautiful event.
