June 1st was a two-for car show day for me. First, I met the Hooligan Gang at Silver Spur early at 0645 hrs and had coffee and food with Chuck Lakowski and Frank Nesta. Then we roamed back to the Healey group and the rest of the gang. The usual suspects were present, but that is a story for Corkey to write.
Around 0750, I received a call from our fellow Healey member Jim Huizdos, to inform me that he had settled in his spot at the Huntington Beach Municipal Park “Great Britains” Car Show and that if I could get to the show before 0900, I could pay the entry fee and join the show. I was off on a mission, arrived on time and settled into a spot with the rest of our Healey gang. The gang was comprised of John Hummer, Alice Johnson, George McHarris, Jim Huizdos, Tom Biss, myself and Franck Vigneron.
The show was in a very nice park setting with lots of green grass and lovely big trees. The cars were mostly Jaguars, Triumphs, MG'S, some Lotuses, Bentleys of various years and beauty, Rolls Royces, and some other oddball makes. The show was good, we had a female Bagpipe player, food trucks and a great, large ensemble of Ukulele players and singers very close to our area. The Jaguar Club set the English car theme but had a problem with their Web Site and many folks could not enter the show by email. The gentleman that ran the show informed me that he liked the showing of cars and now he is very inspired to make next year’s show as big as Woodley Park in Van Nuys, I hope he can make it happen and that will give the English automobiles another great venue in our region.
A great day and I hope John and Alice have some of their great pictures of the activities to send in!! Cheers / Ciao
