Queen’s English Car Show 4/28

The morning was clear, and the weather was expected to be perfect for a car show, sunshine but not hot.

When I arrived shortly after 8am there were a number of big Healeys already parked, along with a few Bugeyes. George McHarris, John Hummer and his navigator Joe Cristerna, Dan Burrola, Fred Cohen, Phil Caliva, Bruce Borella, Steve MagofKin, Darrin Thompson and Jack Gies were already hard at work wiping down their cars. Following me into the paddock were Jim Huizdos, Russ Thompson, Joyce Maeda, and Ron Fine.

Down at the south end of the line were the Bugeyes and Spridgets: Greg Aden, Emil Joseph and friend, Chuck and Barb Meng, Chris and Gerry Lockwood, Clark and Sheila Lewis, and Tim and Shelby Weston.

Parked on the asphalt for an early departure were Amanda Cole and Art Perez in her white Bugeye. It’s odd how the Sprites need two people to run efKiciently.

Rounding out the members who were displaying cars were George Merino with his Lotus Esprit, Peter Hutchings and Chuck Lakowski in their Jensen Healeys, Dave Beugen with his convertible Rolls, and Paul Van Wig and his Morris.

Such a large display of LBC’s, little British cars, always brings out spectators. In the many folks who stopped by our cars were members Charlie Hart and Larry Bryant; and past members Greg Cosh, 100-6 owner, who promised to rejoin and Henry Smith, who I almost didn’t recognize without his standard poodle. The other visitor to the show was the denim hero himself, Jay Leno, driving his 1929 Bentley Speed 6.
