Well, the Southern California sun has returned and the weather has been perfect for getting your Healey out and enjoying the cool mornings and sunny afternoons.
In May we will be having two club events. The first is a weekend trip to Buttonwillow Raceway to watch the Vintage British race cars do their thing and to attend the British Car Show at the track. We will be driving up Saturday morning and arriving in time to watch qualifying. Then we will be allowed on the track to do a few mentored laps at lunch time before the afternoon races.
Then it’s either BBQ dinner at the track or having dinner in Bakersfield near our hotel. Then off to the track again Sunday morning to watch more races and get the car show awards at noon. After the Awards we will be driving back through the Santa Monica mountains to Frazier Park for a rest stop and then returning on the I-5. Members Tom Colby and Terry Cowan are planning on racing that weekend so let’s have a good showing to cheer them on.
The Scottish Festival British Car show at the Orange County Fairgrounds on May 27th and 28th is the next club event. If you haven’t been there before and you enjoy watching Scottish games, drum and pipe bands, and Haggis I recommend you sign up. They especially need cars for the Sunday event! In June is the San Clemente Downtown Car Show and if you plan to attend, I recommend you register ASAP as it sells out very early.
