Super Car Sunday 2/6

I was dressed in layers for warmth, it was supposed to get warm later, at 6:30am as I headed west to Pierce College for Super Car Sunday. The website said today was going to be “hot rod” Sunday and I knew I was going to be an outlier in my Austin Healey 3000.

When I pulled into the parking lot it was sparsely occupied and there were no other Healeys. Once I parked and got settled, I saw Jack Gies in his BJ8 at the end of the parking lot. He spotted me and parked next to my car. After exchanging pleasantries for a while I headed for the food truck, time for coffee and a chorizo and egg burrito.

When I Pinished eating, I wiped down the Healey getting rid of the road dirt and making her look presentable. Then it was time to take a stroll and check out the cars which had been arriving in greater numbers.

The “hot rod” theme was represented well with mid-30's coupes, 50’s iron, rat rods, and a real surprise.

There was another Healey, a Jensen Healey, that was a replica of a Hot Wheels hot rod with a big blower through the hood.

When I got back to my car, Jack had collected quite a crowd admiring his recent restoration and asking him a multitude of questions. It was now after 9am and I packed up and headed for home before it got too hot for a jacket.
