Hello all you Healeyphiles, I have just a few ramblings this month.
First, I want to welcome Anna Johansson and Alice Johnson to our Club’s Board of Directors. Anna is taking over as Treasurer from the long-serving Jay Miller. Jay, thanks for all your years of service and for establishing a strong base for the Club’s financial management. Alice is our new Secretary and is filling a position that has been open for a while. Welcome ladies! Might we see a female Club President in the not-too-distant future? In the “I get the strangest emails” department. As Club President I am the recipient of most emails that originate from non-members going to our website and reaching out to the Club. Probably an average of two or three a week. Most of them are from folks looking to buy or sell cars or parts, which we are happy to promote in the Healey Motor News and website Classified sections. Last week I got a “First”. Seems a fellow from back East is giving his car to his son, who has just moved into a new house in LA. As in not uncommon, the house is on a hillside and has a steep driveway. The owner wanted to be sure his BJ8 could make it up the driveway before shipping it here! The only way to do that was to drive a Healey to the house and try it. I put out the word, and within minutes had three volunteers! Thank you, Phil Caliva, for successfully navigating that driveway. As a result, we may have a new member.
In the “bet you didn’t know” arena. I recently learned about a somewhat hidden, but infinitely valuable section on the AHCA national website (www.healeyclub.org). If you are a Member of AHCA, you can log in and navigate to an Index of Tech Articles that have appeared in the Healey Marque over the years, with direct links to those articles! Literally thousands of articles in twenty categories are at your fingertips. Also, there are links to historical articles, past events, general Healey topics and more. Log in, go to the Members tab, and select “Magazine Index”. That alone is worth the cost of AHCA membership! Finally, on the “unofficial” side, I am running a little Tour to Puerto Vallarta in November if you would fancy a little sun and fun. The event is dubbed “Healeys in Heaven”. No, we’re not driving to Mexico! The airfares are cheap, the hotel is five stars, and with all the Healey people attending, the social side should be outstanding. Drop me an email if you would like to see the full event Flyer and Registration form. I must release any unsold rooms back to the hotel early this month, so after that, sign-up will be on a space available basis only.
Let’s keep those Healeys on the Road.
